Adrian Basson (Keynote Speaker)

Adrian Basson studied accounting at Stellenbosch University, moving to London in 1999 to work for Compaq as part of its internet and e-commerce division.

Adrian was also a Shoprite Holdings Director from 2006 until 2018, including a three-year stint as the company’s Chief Digital Officer. In this role he oversaw Department, Money Markets, Financial services, Computicket, SAP ERP implementation.

Re-joining the Hungry Lion Division full time in January 2017, Adrian’s family then purchased Shoprite’s 50 percent stake in the business in 2018, thus owning the business outright.

Now a fully-independent company, Adrian stands as the full time CEO of Hungry Lion, while also chairman and founder of DigiCloud Africa – the only distributor of Google Cloud products throughout
Africa.

Recently he co-founded Servios, a QSR tech focused company, that commercialises some of
the technology developed in Hungry Lion and elsewhere to solve operational issues for QSR and other retail formats

Dr. Namukale Chintu

Managing Director, Frontier Markets Advisory

Dr. Namukale Chintu is Managing Director at Frontier Market Consultants, a boutique advisory firm focused on African Frontier market investors, including pension funds, private clients, and corporate investors.

She is also a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Invesco Asset Management Ltd (FCA regulated), that is part of the Invesco Ltd group with combined assets under management of USD 1.7 trillion.

In her corporate career spanning nearly 20 years, Dr. Chintu was a Senior Banker at EFG Private Bank and prior to that, at UBS Wealth Management; responsible for Private Client coverage in Africa and Central and Eastern European.

Before that, she was Head of Global Proprietary Capital investing at UBS Asset Management. Prior to UBS, she was Co-Head of Africa at Syntaxis Capital and before the 2008 financial crisis, held capital market roles at Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers.

She also holds two MScs in Financial Economics and Management Research from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, and a BA in Economics from the University of Zambia as a Bank of Zambia Scholar.

Chisha Laurence Folotiya

Managing Director – Rhodes Park Schools Limited

Chisha Folotiya has been a leading and pioneering businessperson in Zambia for over 30 years. 

Educated in the UK, Chisha L. Folotiya graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Nottingham University before returning back to Zambia to head the family business.

Rhodes Park Schools Limited, which operates Rhodes Park School (“RPS”), Zambia’s largest privately-owned learning institution, and is a fee paying school offering classes from Nursery to Grade Twelve. 

He formed Mondo Music Corporation in 1999 as Zambia’s first professional record company, achieving great successes with a number of artists and releases that gained international recognition.

Mondo Farms Limited was established in 2020, and operates two vegetable farms on the outskirts of Chongwe that already supply supermarket chains and the open market.

He has been involved in the T&D and Change Management process at Standard in Chartered Bank in Zambia, Ghana, Botswana, Nigeria and Sierra Leonne. David Burton is a Property Consultant specialising in Investment, Asset and Development Management and Corporate Real Estate. He has 30 years’ experience in the property industry in the UK and in Africa and is the founding partner of Property Lynx, a niche consultancy that capitalises on investment and development opportunities in Africa and the UK. He also worked closely with the corporate and investment banks at both institutions on corporate transactions originated from the Private Bank.
